Darling Quarter, Darling Harbour, Sydney, NSW
Darling Quarter is a vibrant mixed use community precinct at the southern end of the popular city tourist destination, Darling Harbour. The 1.5-hectare area consists of two commercial buildings, a retail terrace, cafés, wine bar, food outlets and a children‘s interactive playground with water games, climbing ropes and flying foxes. The area has been revitalised with new night time lighting, public furniture and planting.
Project Design Brief
Darling Quarter was designed with a combination of hard and soft landscape materials, requiring an adaptable and versatile surface drainage system for the various areas. Due to the large number of pedestrians attracted to the site, grates needed to be slip resistant and safe for high heels. The grates also needed to be robust to withstand the heavy service and delivery vehicles that frequent the site.
