Brisbane Broncos’ Training and Administration Centre, QLD
The Brisbane Broncos is an iconic sporting club in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. The club recently built a new $27M training facility near its traditional home at Red Hill. The new facility includes a three-storey building for all of its football operations and commercial facilities including a retail store, café, gymnasium, aquatic centre and a community education centre. The centrepiece of the development is a full sized training field, developed as a result of a commercial arrangement between the Broncos and the Queensland Government
Project Design Brief
In keeping with the modern look of the new building, designers needed to visually integrate a variety of different external pavement surfaces. As these areas would also be heavily trafficked by pedestrians, all pavement transitions needed to be smooth and surfaces safe to walk on. Designers therefore chose a variety of efficient surface drainage systems to effectively drain these flat areas, whilst ensuring their appearance complimented the building’s modern exterior.
