The Hyatt Regency Hotel, Sydney, NSW

The Hyatt Regency, formerly the Four Points by Sheraton is Australia’s biggest hotel and is conveniently located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD at Darling Harbour with views over Sydney Harbour. The hotel was recently refurbished costing $160 million which consisted of a new 25-level tower with 13 new hotel levels, 10 commercial office space levels, convention centre and dining precinct, meeting rooms and two ballrooms

Project Design Brief

As the hotel is a popular destination for conferences, exhibitions, weddings and other large functions, the ground level public spaces and building entrances on Sussex Street required improvement to enable safe and easy access for the large number of pedestrians visiting Darling Harbour from Sydney’s CBD. A drainage system was required that aesthetically complimented the up-market hotel yet was also strong enough to withstand cars and commercial vehicles. A safe grate suitable for wheelchairs, stiletto heels with a high slip resistant rating was also required.
