Sydney Gateway - Mascot NSW

The Sydney Gateway motorway project will significantly enhance transportation efficiency across Australia’s largest city by reducing travel time by up to 40 minutes for motorists commuting between Parramatta and Sydney Airport. Valued at $2.6 billion, the project reinforces Sydney’s position as a global city. It features the construction of 19 bridges and includes a direct connection to the Sydney motorway network at the St Peter’s interchange, enabling efficient traffic flow and improved network integration.

Project Design Brief

The widening of O’Riordan Street for additional traffic lanes and the installation of a raised median resulted in a low point along the centre median. For the safety of motorist a compact continuous capture drainage system was required to efficiently remove the surface runoff from the roadway.

ACO's Solution

  • KerbDrain QK200SF
  • Based on the site-specific catchment hydraulics, ACO’s Technical Services department provided designers with hydraulic data, including channel capacities, and also advised how far apart to space gully pits.

Benefits

  • KerbDrain transforms kerbs into continuous capture inlets.
  • The compact design fits neatly in the median of the carriageway.
  • The 500mm lengths of KerbDrain allows them to be installed on a gentle curve.
