Pearson Street Mall, Newcastle, NSW
Lake Macquarie City Council recently undertook a $3M upgrade of the Pearson Street Mall. The mall, positioned prominently in the suburb of Charlestown, is to be the gateway to the region’s largest retail precinct. The upgrade comprises a number of engaging activation points including new digital technology for soundscapes, projections and creative lighting.
Project Design Brief
Drainage infrastructure was required for the new pavements, which would be exposed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Therefore a strong, durable and foot friendly trench drain system was required. Designers also wanted to create something unique with the drainage system to complement the modern look of the new mall.
