Mort Street Upgrade - Toowoomba, QLD
The $31 million Mort Street Upgrade has recently been completed by Toowoomba Regional Council. This strategic infrastructure project establishes a new northern entry into the city and forms a key link to the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing. A continuous shared path was also incorporated along the full length of the corridor to promote active transport and improve pedestrian connectivity.
Project Design Brief
During design, several locations along Mort Street required immediate runoff removal. Traditional pit and pipe drainage would have needed additional land resumptions, which the Council aimed to avoid. Therefore, alternative solutions were developed to manage stormwater within the existing roadway.
