Lipson Street, Port Adelaide, SA
Originally settled in 1836, Port Adelaide was designated a State Heritage Area in April 1982. It is known for its impressive collection of nineteenth-century commercial and civic buildings. In addition to its historical architecture, the area features various attractions, including the SA Maritime Museum, art galleries, antique shops, and heritage pubs.
Project Design Brief
A key objective of the design brief was to enhance Lipson Street’s accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists. This required efficient drainage solutions that complied with legislative standards for areas with high pedestrian traffic. The plan included removing kerbs and gutters and widening footpaths to better support pedestrian movement and activities.
