Breakfast Creek Yowoggera Bridge - Brisbane QLD
The Brisbane City Council has recently completed a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge over Breakfast Creek, linking the Lores Bonney Riverwalk to the inner city. This infrastructure project provides a safe and convenient crossing for pedestrians and cyclists while significantly improving connectivity across the area. The bridge includes integrated pathways and landscaping on both the Newstead Park and Cameron Rocks Reserve sides, enhancing access to surrounding green spaces and encouraging active transport.
Project Design Brief
With an overall length of shared paths on both sides of the bridge covering 80 metres, designers needed to implement an efficient drainage system to ensure rapid water runoff and prevent surface pooling. As a pedestrian and cycle-friendly structure, the bridge also had to meet several legislative requirements related to slip resistance and bicycle safety, ensuring it remained safe and accessible in all weather conditions.
