Mayfair Estate - Emerald, QLD

Mayfair Estate is a residential subdivision located in the Central Queensland town of Emerald. Central Highlands Regional Council recently undertook road rehabilitation and stormwater upgrade works within the estate. The existing roadways had deteriorated over time due to inadequate stormwater infrastructure and insufficient pavement capacity. Council developed a detailed plan and design to reconstruct and rehabilitate the estate.

Project Design Brief

Council designers faced several challenges on this development. Stormwater needed to be rapidly removed from the carriageway to ensure runoff was immediately captured and not impact adjacent properties. Existing underground stormwater infrastructure was limited and would require augmentation.

ACO's Solution

  • KerbDrain QK200SM
  • TraffikDrain TD200 system with Iron Transverse grates.
  • ACO’s Technical Services department assisted designers with hydraulic performance data for both systems.

Benefits

  • KerbDrain is a robust, monolithic one-piece kerb unit with inlets designed to withstand vehicle loads from kerb mounting at property access points.
  • TraffikDrain grated channels fit within the restricted shoulder width and captures the majority of the surface water.
  • Both KerbDrain and TraffikDrain used together would
eliminate the width of gutter flow.
