Prospect Highway Upgrade - Blacktown, NSW
The Australian and New South Wales Governments recently completed a $280 million, 3.6 km upgrade of the Prospect Highway between Reservoir Road and St Martins Crescent. The project transformed the previously undivided two-lane road into a modern highway, featuring up to six lanes in certain sections. As a result, travel times along this corridor are expected to decrease from approximately 20 minutes to just 5 minutes.
Project Design Brief
Designers incorporated superelevated sections to accommodate changes in topography along sections of the carriageway. These conditions resulted in restricted shoulder widths and necessitated a continuous capture drainage system to ensure runoff was removed immediately from the pavement surface.
