Ashfield Aquatic Centre - Sydney, NSW
The newly constructed Ashfield Aquatic Centre replaces the original Ashfield Olympic Pool, which was built in 1962. The new facility combines a community leisure pool with high-performance sports infrastructure and will be the third-largest aquatic centre in Sydney by water area.
Project Design Brief
A key design requirement was the integration of an effective drainage system for the paved areas between the pools and buildings. Safety, particularly for children, was a primary consideration. The design team opted for trench drains instead of pit and pipe systems. This approach allows for flatter pavement surfaces, significantly enhancing accessibility and safety for all users.
ACO's Solution
