UTAS Stadium - Launceston TAS

The Australian and Tasmanian Governments have each committed $65 million to upgrade UTAS Stadium in Launceston. The project will deliver a modern, high-performance sporting facility in central Launceston, supporting the future of elite sport in Tasmania. Key components of the upgrade include a new eastern stand, centre west stand, plaza entry, upgraded match day facilities, and enhanced sports lighting.

Project Design Brief

To improve match day functionality, designers focused on effective surface water management in high-traffic areas where players and officials gather outside the field of play. Rapid drainage was essential to maintain safety and usability. The design also considered the sole pattern of contemporary AFL and AFLW boots, ensuring selected grates were compatible and reduced risk of instability.
