Central Station - Sydney NSW
Central Station is a heritage-listed railway station located in the heart of Sydney. As Australia’s largest and second-busiest railway station, it records over 85 million passenger movements annually and serves more than 250,000 people each day. Central Station comprises three distinct terminals and functions as a major hub for metro and regional train services, the new Sydney Metro lines, and the Sydney Light Rail network.
Project Design Brief
All existing platforms were scheduled for refurbishment, including the installation of new pavement finishes. This upgrade also allowed for the integration of a modern drainage system across the platforms. While some platforms received new roof coverings, several others remained exposed to the elements. Throughout the design process, pedestrian safety was a top priority, addressing concerns such as slip resistance and stiletto heel safety.
