Special Drainage Systems – What You Need to Know

Due to the ongoing problems associated with global climate change, the frequency of extreme weather patterns is drastically increasing by the year. Therefore, the purpose of ACO’s special drainage systems – which includes Brickslot, MiniKlassik and Grated Pits – is to ensure that difficult to drain areas are also dealt with through quality products that are also corrosion resistant.

It would be important to note that ACO Drain is indeed the world’s most comprehensive commercial drainage range. And with superior design, it’s easy to see why.

The products discussed in this article assist in providing solutions to problems for just about any surface drainage issue that you are faced with.

If you have any questions about these products, feel free to give our technical support team a call on 1300 765 226 for further information.

For now, let’s take a look at each of ACO’s special drainage systems.

The Brickslot Drainage Solution

Brickslot is a discrete, drainage solution for use with brick or stone pavers up to 63mm deep. The 10mm steel slot (galvanised or stainless) blends in with paving joints giving an aesthetic solution.
The Brickslot unit is typically used on the KlassikDrain  K100 channel, but can also be used on the SlabDrain  H100K channel if depth restrictions are a concern. An access unit provides discrete access to the channel or in-line pit for maintenance. This is because it matches the width of their interconnecting channels to preserve the visual continuity of the drainage run.

Parts include:

  • Grate removal tool
  • 1.0m Brickslot
  • 0.5m Brickslot; and,
  • 0.5m Brickslot access unit

The MiniKlassik Drainage Solution

If you have a pavement or balcony that regularly gets wet, receives foot traffic, and requires a discrete drainage barrier, the MiniKlassik is the drainage system for you. It’s a solution that enables you to separate the wet and dry areas, and the slip resistant grates are load tested to 8 tonnes.

Parts include:

  • 1.0m neutral channel; and,
  • End cap

The Grated Pits Drainage Solution

Grated Pits are for use where an existing pavement has been finished with undulating falls for point drainage, or for the collection of concentrated surface water runoff.
Grated pits are available in a wide range of sizes, are lightweight, easy to transport and handle. Choice of grates in 3 styles including Heelsafe® Anti-Slip

Parts include the following, and will depend upon the size you decide to choose.

  • Type 33 Pit
